Marty Gallagher switches to Junior BRC with 208
Irish driver Marty Gallagher will focus on trying to win the Junior British Rally Championship in 2017 following the news by series organisers that the overall winner will receive a cheque for £30,000.
Gallagher is sticking with the Peugeot 208 R2 he switched to last season and will begin his preparations for the BRC’S opening round – the Border Counties Rally – by entering the Snowman Rally later this month.
“The prize money announcement for the Junior BRC sealed the deal for us – prior to that our plans were still up in the air,” said Gallagher. “We have experience of some of the rounds from last year like the Nicky Grist Stages and Isle of Man Rally. We have as good a chance of winning as anyone.
“We are sticking with the Peugeot because it seems to be the best car on both surfaces.”
Gallagher competed in BRC 4 last year for R2 cars not on DMACK’S control tyre.
