Mcerlean obtains C2 R2 for Border Counties
Double Irish Junior 1000 Rally Challenge champion Josh Mcerlean will compete in the British Rally Championship opener on the Border Counties in March.
For the past two seasons Mcerlean has plied his trade in a one-litre Peugeot 107, chalking up almost 20 victories in the process. Now he’ll compete in the BRC opener with the Macsport team that runs R5 exponent Desi Henry.
“There is a lot of learning to do. The Citroen C2 R2 Max has twice the power of the Peugeot 107 I was driving before, and it is left-hand drive,” said Mcerlean.
“We looked seriously at the National Junior Championship but we’ve since decided to enter the Border Counties Rally. This is a huge step as I have no gravel experience, so it’s all about finishing it.”
Mcerlean made his debut in the car on the New Year Stages Rally last weekend, finishing ninth.
