Classic Saab squadron to enter the R.A.C. Rally
The Saab Historic Rally Team will have its biggest entry to date when at least six cars enter the Roger Albert Clark Rally in November.
Formed in 2010 to mark the end of Saab production, the confirmed lineup will be 96s for Nick Pinkett, Colin Hope and Steve Higgins, 99s for Jim Valentine and Gavin Chisholm and the 900 of Magic Mccombie.
“I’ve been bowled over by the response,” said Valentine. “I was not expecting so many entries so quickly. It’s a big adventure.”
But there may be more than six Saabs starting the event in November as Valentine has another four possible team members, including cars from Europe.
The team shares service facilities on the event and has its own awards, including the bonnet of a two-stroke Saab 96 mounted on a plinth for the best performance on the rally.
