The World Touring Car Championship gets Goodwood celebration
The 30th anniversary of the inaugural World Touring Car Championship will be marked at the 75th Goodwood Members’ Meeting with high-speed demonstrations on March 18/19.
Over the weekend two batches of period Group A cars will run, with the earlier cars like BMW 635s, Jaguar XJSS, Rover SD1S and Volvo 240 Turbos in one group and Ford Sierra RS500S, BMW M3s and Alfa Romeo 75s in a second demonstration group.
The 1987 WTCC was contested by drivers including Roberto Ravaglia, Emanuele Pirro and Johnny Cecotto in BMW M3s and Klaus Ludwig, Klaus Niedzwiedz, Steve Soper and Andy Rouse in Ford Sierra RS500S.
