Champ Dubourg lifts another Andros Trophy
Reigning Andros Trophy champion Jean-baptiste Dubourg successfully defended his crown at the winter series’ finale in Super Besse last weekend.
The European Rallycross Championship regular, who will move up to the FIA World Rallycross Championship fulltime this season with his family-run DA Racing team, finished third overall and second on track in the final round behind title protagonist and multiple champion Jean-philippe Dayraut.
The result was enough for Dubourg, driving a Renault Clio 3 silhouette, to win the ice trophy for the second year in a row. Dayraut finished second in the points in a BMW M2 with former Formula 1 race winner Oliver Panis third overall in an Audi A1.
“This second title is the reward of many months of hard work,” said Dubourg. “It was necessary to fight until the very end where everything played out at the last race. The hardest thing to overcome this winter was the level of competition; generally, five or six drivers were able to fight for victory.”
