As­ton to run all-bri­tish team as Porsche re­turns to GT Pro

The WEC’S GT ranks have at­tracted a to­tal of 13 en­tries, boosted by the re­turn of the fac­tory Porsche team.

A to­tal of four brands will fight for the class ti­tle, which has gained world cham­pi­onship sta­tus for this year, with Fer­rari, Porsche, Ford and de­fend­ing cham­pion As­ton Martin all present.

As­ton Martin Rac­ing will field two Vanatge GTES in the Pro class for Nicki Thiim/ Marco Sorensen and Dar­ren Turner/jonny Adam.

Dou­ble Bri­tish GT cham­pion Adam said: “Team­ing up with Dar­ren is some­thing I’m re­ally look­ing for­ward to. We both drive in a sim­i­lar style and get the best out of each other and the car. I think it will be a great part­ner­ship.”

Porsche has con­firmed three driv­ers so far – Michael Chris­tensen, Fred­eric Makowiecki and Richard Li­etz.

Fer­rari will run two cars via AF Corse with James Cal­ado and Da­vide Rigon con­firmed.

Ford’s cars will be han­dled by Pipo Derani/andy Pri­aulx/ Harry Tinck­nell and Ste­fan Mucke/olivier Pla/billy John­son.
