Academy signs Moore for 2017 British GT4 Aston Martin comeback
Academy Motorsport will mount a dual challenge on the British and European GT4 classes this season after confirming a single Aston Martin Vantage entry.
The Pershore-based squad, which won the 2015 British GT4 teams’ crown before taking a year out in ’16, will run team boss Matt Nicoll-jones and Will Moore.
Moore, who scored class victory in the Dubai 24 Hours last month, returns to the outfit after stepping up into an Optimum Motorsport-run Audi R8 LMS GT3 machine in 2016.
Nicoll-jones and Moore will dovetail their British campaign with the six-round GT4 European Series Northern Cup.
“It’s great to have Will back with the team as he’s very determined and crucially, extremely quick,” Nicoll-jones said. “I have also missed racing after taking a back seat recently so it’ll be fantastic to get back behind the wheel.
“Having won the British GT4 teams’ title the last time we raced, that has to be our target once again. There’s so much demand for GT4 places on the grid this year that the competition is going to be fierce.
“We took part in the final round of last year’s European GT4 Series at Zandvoort and it’s well run, shares the bill with the Blancpain GT Series and DTM, and is also very competitive.”
Moore added: “I enjoyed my time with Academy in the Vantage in 2015, so the opportunity to return with the team was too good to turn down.”
