Breen makes C3 WRC de­but in Swe­den

Craig Breen will make his de­but driv­ing for the Citroen To­tal Abu Dhabi World Rally Team at this week’s Rally Swe­den.

The Water­ford star drove a DS 3 WRC at last month’s Monte Carlo Rally and last year’s cars were run by French pri­va­teer out­fit PH Sport. This week’s Karl­stad-based rally is Breen’s first time in a fac­tory C3 WRC with a fac­tory team.

“This re­ally is some­thing I’ve waited my whole life for,” he told MN. “It’s a in­cred­i­ble mo­ment for me.”

It was at this event 12 months ago – when he fin­ished eighth over­all – that Breen’s rapid pro­gres­sion to­wards a full-time Citroen drive be­gan.

“I have good me­mories of this rally last year,” he said. “I feel con­fi­dent in the sur­round­ings now, in the car and in the team. I’m ready to rise to the chal­lenge that awaits me in Swe­den.”

Breen com­pleted a one-day test in the C3 on Satur­day. His team-mate Kris Meeke ran the test car on Sun­day, los­ing a lit­tle time at the end of the day with a slow-speed roll.
