Breen makes C3 WRC debut in Sweden
Craig Breen will make his debut driving for the Citroen Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team at this week’s Rally Sweden.
The Waterford star drove a DS 3 WRC at last month’s Monte Carlo Rally and last year’s cars were run by French privateer outfit PH Sport. This week’s Karlstad-based rally is Breen’s first time in a factory C3 WRC with a factory team.
“This really is something I’ve waited my whole life for,” he told MN. “It’s a incredible moment for me.”
It was at this event 12 months ago – when he finished eighth overall – that Breen’s rapid progression towards a full-time Citroen drive began.
“I have good memories of this rally last year,” he said. “I feel confident in the surroundings now, in the car and in the team. I’m ready to rise to the challenge that awaits me in Sweden.”
Breen completed a one-day test in the C3 on Saturday. His team-mate Kris Meeke ran the test car on Sunday, losing a little time at the end of the day with a slow-speed roll.
