Kyle White takes on Border Rally Championship
Belfast’s Kyle White will make his bow in the Border Rally Championship this season after swapping to an R2-specification Peugeot 208.
The 20-year-old will kick-start his bid for front-wheel-drive glory on next month’s Mayo Stages Rally with regular team-mate Sean Topping. After promising performances on December’s Turkey Run and last month’s New Year Stages rallies, where he came eleventh and seventh respectively, White believes his improving speed is enough to make him a genuine contender for silverware in the sealed-surface competition.
“I feel that our pace has improved greatly on the roads, so I’m really hoping to finish at the top of the class in Mayo, definitely,” said White.
“This is my third season in the sport and I have a great team behind me. They have a lot of experience, which helps.
“I don’t have any previous experience of competing in the Border Championship but I’m going into it feeling very confident.
“I have been really impressed with the Peugeot since I made the switch from the Citroen C2R2 I rallied before,” added White.
Before the Mayo Stages White will return to Kirkistown this weekend for the first round of the Northern Ireland Championship.
White had a top 10 debut in the new 208 on the New Year Stages in January
