Juha Kankkunen scored Toy­ota’s first sprint rally win with the ini­tially trou­ble­some Cel­ica GT-4.

An African podium lock-out for team-mates Juha Kankkunen, Markku Alen and Ian Dun­can in the Cel­ica Turbo 4WD.

Bjorn Walde­gaard com­pleted a hat­trick of wins in Kenya for the Toy­ota Cel­ica Twin­cam Turbo. The rear-wheeldrive car al­ways strug­gled on Euro­pean WRC rounds, but it was near un­beat­able in Africa.
