LMP3 Cup driver Randle seals TRS title
LMP3 Cup Championship driver Thomas Randle claimed the Toyota Racing Series title in a dramatic final weekend at Manfeild.
Having led the standings ahead of the final weekend, Randle managed only one podium during the final weekend of the season, but third place in the final race of the series – the New Zealand Grand Prix – was crucially enough to leapfrog him back ahead of Pedro Piquet to land the crown by five points, having passed the Brazilian on track during the race.
Randle, who finished fourth in the BRDC British F3 Championship with Douglas Motorsport last year, succeeds Mclaren Autosport BRDC Award winner Lando Norris as TRS champion and became the first Australian to claim the TRS crown.
Indian Jehan Daruvala won the 62nd running of the New Zealand Grand Prix ahead of Marcus Armstrong and Randle, while British F3 Autumn Trophy champion Enaam Ahmed finished sixth overall with one victory to his name.
