Jake Harris to graduate to Supercar with an ex-pat Doran DS 3 racer
Jake Harris will graduate to the Supercar category in British Rallycross this year, racing a Citroen DS 3 Supercar.
Harris sampled the ex-pat Doran machine at a test in France last year, before making his debut at the Rallycross Grand Prix at Croft in October, where he finished in the B final.
“Each time I step out of the Supercar I feel I gain more knowledge, more confidence and with it more speed,” said Harris. “My attitude for the year is to keep learning and to progress as a driver. I started steady at Croft last year and built up the pace throughout the day. I came away from the event happy, feeling comfortable in the car and with my pace.
“Every driver on the grid wants to win, but I have no doubt about how hard the competition is this year. I’m confident in the car and that I’m learning quickly. I hope for some good battles as the year goes on and hopefully we can get some podium finishes.”
Harris finished third overall in the RX150 category last season. He said: “I loved my time in RX150S, some great drivers have taken part in the class and I am definitely going to miss it, but the Supercar, it is a big step up. There is much more to think about inside the car, so it will definitely be a bigger challenge to be competitive.”
