Guest drivers line up for BTRDA Subaru run
Pete Ellis, Tony Simpson and John Rook will join forces to share a Production 4x4 category Subaru Impreza this season in the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship.
The car has been loaned to them by Ian Shelley, who will himself race in the Retro Rallycross Championship at the wheel of a Mini Clubman.
A close friend of Shelley, Ellis was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, and it is his life-long ambition to drive a rallycross car.
He is due to compete at the two BTRDA rounds at Blyton, held respectively in March and October.
Rally champion and comedian Simpson will also compete in the Impreza. He is due to drive at the season finale at Croft in November for his rallycross debut.
BTRDA Championship co-ordinator Rook, who previously competed at the wheel of a Citroen Saxo in the British RX and Clubmans events, will race the car at the two Pembrey doubleheaders in the series in May and August.
