Zelos hopes to convert promise to solid results with move to WDE Clio outfit

-

Renault UK Clio Cup racer Dan Zelos will switch to WDE Motorsport this season.

The 18-year-old finished 18th in the points last year with Ciceley Motorsport and showed flashes of speed but was unable to convert that into strong race results.

WDE boss Wayne Eason says he should be a regular podium finisher this season, his second in Clios after graduating from Ginetta Junior. “I’m quite excited to get him out in the car because he showed a lot of promise last year but I don’t think he was given what he needed to deliver,” said Eason. “At the first round last year he was on the front row of the grid and at Thruxton he was quick so he’s got a massive amount of potential.

“He can be a podium finisher and he’s capable of winning races and it’s a question of how quickly we can get him to where he needs to be. The only thing he lacked last year was confidence in the car and having someone like Paul [Rivett, WDE team manager and triple Clio champion] will help with that.”
