Hamil­ton nom­i­nated for Billy Cole­man Award

Michael Hamil­ton has earned a nom­i­na­tion for Young Rally Driver of the Year for the months of Septem­ber to Oc­to­ber.

The 23-year-old Honda Civic driver has earned a place in the fi­nal of the Billy Cole­man Award which hands €50,000 to the win­ner, de­cided by a spe­cial panel.

Hamil­ton im­pressed with class wins on the Sligo Rally and the Clare Stages, fin­ish­ing 12th and 15th on those events re­spec­tively.

Hamil­ton joins Opel Adam driver Jor­dan Hone, Na­tional ju­nior cham­pion Ja­son Black and Vaux­hall Nova driver Derek Mackarel in be­ing nom­i­nated for the award. A wildcard en­try can also be se­lected to com­pete along­side the fi­nal­ists.

The Billy Cole­man Award has helped to launch the ca­reers of the likes of Craig Breen, Keith Cronin and Rob Dug­gan.
