St Katharine Docks refurbished
Iconic London dock rebranded a Camper & Nicholsons marina
Camper & Nicholsons Marinas has taken over the management and operation of the St Katharine Docks.
Camper & Nicolson originally won the contract to redesign and refurbish the site in April 2015. Since then, the marina has been brought up to date with a new marina layout, new pontoons and new lighting and utilities, making it one of the most modern marinas in the UK. Now it has been awarded the contract to run it for three years on behalf of Blackstone Property Management.
The project was complicated by the historic nature of the site, meaning that many aspects, including the quay walls of the three marina basins, are protected. In addition, the entire project was undertaken whilst the marina berth holders, and its commercial tenants and inhabitants, were still in residence.
General manager Paul Tetlow likened the project to “renovating an entire house whilst still living in it.” The marina can now accommodate superyachts of up to 40m, as well as being able to host events such as the recent London On-water boat show.
Guy Rudd, managing director of Blackstone Property Management, said, “We have made a significant investment in the St Katharine Docks estate and it is paying dividends in the number of new customers we have.”
