TOY OF THE MONTH WALKER BAY SUPER TENDER
This console- driven tender can carry up to five people and take an outboard of 30hp. It is ideal for exploring or watersports, and could be just what you are looking for as a cheaper alternative to a Williams
Williams Jet Tenders seem to be taking over the world for small console-driven tenders, but there are alternatives for those that prefer a more conventional outboard engine. Usa-based Walker Bay make a range of small console tenders, and its latest is the snappily entitled Supertender 325 Deluxe Console RIB. As the name suggests, it’s just shy of 11ft long (3.25m) and weighs just 118kg. It can carry up to five crew when fitted with its recommended 20hp outboard, or you can upscale to 30hp if you feel the need for speed (or watersports). The hull is described by the manufacturer as a ‘deep vee’ suggesting a soft ride and the wider bow helps block spray from being thrown up as well as offering more space in the boat. Tubes are either German Heytex PVC or ORCA CSM fabric. There’s space for a 7in plotter in the console, handy for going exploring – as is space for a six-gallon fuel tank in the bow.
