What hap­pened…

This was a pretty fast crash. I was testing the new Yamaha R1 su­per­bike at the Eastern Creek race­track and fell off the bike at 70mph in Turn Two. The re­sult was a 50 yard slide on my side and bu­minto the gravel trap.

The bike was pretty badly dam­aged and by rights I should have been too, but the kit I was wear­ing stood up to the fall very well – so well in fact that I was rid­ing again 20 min­utes later on an­other bike at the same track and car­ried on rid­ing all day.
