ITALIAN COLLECTION GOE
Huge collection of rare and exotic sports machines up for sale at inaugural London motorcycle auction
n February 13 around 100 classic and vintage motorcycles will go under the hammer as London’s first dedicated world- class motorcycle- only auction gets underway.
Run in conjunction with the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show, the auction’s centrepiece is a stunning collection of Italian road and race machinery.
Spanning nine decades, the bikes range from a 1925 575cc Fongri Sport Lusso to a 2006 works superstock- spec Benelli Tornado. Stunning Italian road bikes are up for sale too including a Jhp-tuned Ducati 996 SPS (with over £40,000 worth of performance parts fitted) and a very rare 2001 Ducati MH900 Evoluzione (Hailwood tribute) with only 12 kilometres on the clock.
Historic British and Japanese machines are also on offer. The pick of the crop is a one-off 1992 Brough Superior SS120 special and a well-presented, 1954 Vincent Rapide. Japanese-made machines include a stunning, ex- Italian superbike championship Honda RC45 fitted with an HRC race kit.
The auction starts at 2.30pm and is held in the main hall of the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show at the Excel centre, Docklands. Tickets to the show are just £17 in advance from www.mcnmotorcycleshow.com or by calling 0844 873 7346. The auction and lots can be viewed with a standard entry ticket. Entrance to the auction itself and the ability to bid requires purchase of an auction catalogue (£10, admits two people).
