Ducati Monster 1200/S/R (2014-current)
Big brother to the all-new 821 now comes in three guises (stock, S and, from 2016, R). All are based around the liquid-cooled, four-valve, 11° ‘Testastretta’ engine already used in the Multistrada. That means 145bhp, rider modes, traction control and ABS while the S has Öhlins front and rear and the R has an extra 15bhp, uprated clocks and lightweight components – all for around £16K. Hasn’t the Monster grown! What you’ll pay today £11,500£12,800 (the R is new this year). But should you? Still the definitive Italian, performance roadster – but it’s a far cry from the original raw 900.
