TYCO: ‘WE’LL STILL LET GUY RACE TT’
Although Ryan Farquhar is Guy Martin’s replacement in the Tyco team for this year’s TT, team boss Philip Neill is ready for any last-minute change of heart from Martin.
“If the first day of the bicycle race doesn’t go well and Guy wants to get a flight back from America there will be a bike there for him and he can race the TT as long as Paul Phillips (TT Development Manager) allows it,” Neill says, more than a little hopefully.
“If that happened we would run all three riders.”
Should there not be an eleventh-hour TT reprieve, the door still remains open for Guy’s return at his favourite meeting, the Southern 100 in July. In recent seasons the popular star has also been a regular at Northern Ireland’s Armoy road races and at the Ulster Grand Prix, where he crashed last season.
“Guy has not told us when he will race again but in the brief conversations we have had my indication is that he will race this year,” Neill says.
