Welcome to MCN’S Motogp season preview for what promises to be an epic year of action! With 2015 being one of the best seasons ever, 2016 has a lot to live up to, but early signs suggest it’s going to be another classic.
First and foremost there’s the Spanish powerhouse that is Jorge Lorenzo. On his day he remains utterly unbeatable, but he also showed he is capable of having bad days, which allowed for Valentino Rossi to set up an incredible title bid that went right down to the wire.
Rossi, now 37 years old, had left many thinking that maybe 2015 had been his last great year and he’d set himself up to go out in a blaze of glory. But, with the strong pre-season testing form he’s since rolled out, it’s hard to imagine he won’t win races in 2016 or be a title contender once again.
Then there’s the enigma that is Marc Marquez. Will the Honda be competitive enough to allow him to challenge Lorenzo and new nemesis Rossi for the title? Or will he be relegated to his role of fly in their ointment for another year? We don’t know the answers yet, but it’s going to be fun finding out!
And that’s not considering the rookie wunderkind Maverick Viñales who is riding a Suzuki that finally looks like a race-winner.
Oh, and then throw in three fast Brits, all of whom think that they’re good enough to be the top satellite bike this year, and we’re set for one hell of a season!
