The season hasn’t even started and already there’s wild rumour about who’s going where in 2017. And right at the centre of that whirlwind of rumour is reigning champion Lorenzo.
Leading much of that speculation is Ducati’s Paulo Ciabatti, who has made it quite clear time and again that he would love to get Lorenzo’s signature on paper to join the Italian squad on a bike they think is once again good enough to win the title. It’s not the first time Lorenzo has been linked to a move to the Bologna firm, either.
But while he’s no doubt at least looking into the Ducati deal (plus possibly a offer from Repsol Honda), the three-time champion is also insisting publicly that he’d also quite like to stay where he is. Admitting that it was his hope to get a deal inked before the final race of the year, he confirmed at the Qatar test that that hasn’t gone quite to plan.
