Arm pump woes a thing of the past

One piece of good news to come out of the Qatar test for Dani Pedrosa was a lack of any signs of the debilitating arm pump that struck him at the Losail track at the start of the 2015 season.

It was at Qatar last year that the issues were finally brought to a head, forcing the 30-year-old to take time away from the sport to undergo a highly invasive operation to remove the fascia from the muscles of his forearms in order to relieve the compartment syndrome inflicted upon him by the force of holding on to a Motogp bike.

Coming away from the tests in the same shape he returned to the championship last year after his surgery, he spoke about his feelings of relief .

“It’s the first time in a long time that I’ve started a season not worrying about arm pump, and compared to last year it’s a completely different situation, which is very nice!”
