Pedrosa is second only to Jorge Lorenzo in terms of rumours about where the top riders in Motogp might end up next year.
The most persistent of those rumours, though, is that he’ll land at KTM for 2017, joining the Austrian manufacturer as the perfect fast development rider.
Further backing up that theory is that KTM’S first foray into the premier class looks set to be heavily backed by fellow Austrian firm Red Bull, a long time personal sponsor of Pedrosa’s.
And if the Spaniard were to leave Honda – far from a certainty, after 11 seasons with Repsol Honda and an entire GP career with the manufacturer – it would leave a big hole to be filled.
Without a doubt number one on Honda’s hit list would be rookie sensation Maverick Viñales (if Yamaha don’t get there first!). Then there’s another Marquez to consider, with Marc admitting to MCN in 2014 that he would love to be joined by his brother Alex as team-mate in the future…
That option is also likely to create much less tension in the Repsol garage than if Honda were to appoint the other rising star Alex Rins. Locked in a feud with the younger Marquez since their Moto3 clashes, Marc might not be the most welcoming team-mate!
