AC Schnitzer AC310 forged wheels for R ninet
New drop-forged alloy wheels for BMW’S classy retro roadster reduce unsprung weight to deliver a handling benefit. While the saving isn’t specified, suffice to say they are a delight to the eye as well. They come in a bare aluminium finish and it’s up to the owner whether to have them painted, powdercoated, anodised or polished for a shiny finish. The front 3.5in rim and rear 6in rim are supplied with disc carriers, spacers and the relevant bearings.

New for this year, these are an evolution of Metzeler’s superb Roadtec Z8, a previous winner of MCN’S Tyre of the Year award. The Roadtec 01 shares the Z8’s trademark plush, plugged-in feel and wet weather prowess, which we always thought would be hard to beat, but they somehow manage to offer an additional layer of comfort, grip and confidence, and so score highly in all elements of our evaluation. Put simply, the Metzeler Roadtec 01 is hard to fault and offers a high level of overall performance – it’s a stand-out winner of this sports-touring tyre test.
