Blind test

All tyres are hidden in (unplugged) tyre warmers before the test begins. The tyres are new, unscrubbed and cold. Each tyre is tested on a 17.5-mile road route around Alcaniz, Spain that takes in smooth and broken tarmac, dry and wet sections, fast sweepers, slow corners and roundabouts – just about everything you’ll experience during normal riding. Each set of tyres undergoes a 15-point assessment with scores out of 10 given to more road-relevant tyre performance: warm-up time, shimmy (bar shake off the throttle), ride quality, handling lightness, steering consistency, tyre neutrality, stand-up on the brakes, ease of use, stability, bump absorption, tyre deformation feeling, handlebar kick back (generated from rear tyre), contact feeling, cold grip and hot grip.

Even in chilly conditions, sports-touring rubber should give cornering confidence
