Rally raid concepts due in 2017
It’s all about the terminology. This Honda CRF250 Rally was presented at the Tokyo show as a ‘concept’ bike which meant, officially, Honda wasn’t talking about this bike being a production bike – even though it’s an open secret that it will be a production model.
Now, the firm have officially upgraded its status to a ‘prototype for production’ which means Honda is being a few degrees less dismissive about its production status, while our insiders say it will be on sale as a 2017 model later this year. This prototype, unveiled at the Osaka show, sees the bike getting a revised front screen, LED headlight, altered side panels and a Termignoni exhaust system.
Honda also showed a new more hardcore version of the recently launched Africa Twin at Osaka, called the Sports Concept which was presented as a concept bike but which we expect to be on sale as the ‘adventure’ spec bike in the range within a year.
Changes to the Africa Twin Sports Concept aren’t extensive but there is a different, flatter seat, slimmer tail unit, a new Termignoni exhaust system, and a robust-looking engine bashplate and sump guard for off-road protection.
