Com­ment­ing on the ru­mours, Stoner said: “There’s no truth that I’ll be re­plac­ing Danilo. My big­gest goal at the minute is to get some tests out of the way and try and im­prove the bike un­der­neath the Du­cati riders and make them even more com­pet­i­tive than they were in race one.”

Ru­mours that Stoner would wide card the Du­cati in 2016 have been rife fol­low­ing his dis­ap­point­ment with HRC last year when he of­fered to deputise for Pe­drosa.

“We have no thoughts of wild cards or re­place­ments. Just be­cause it’s a sim­i­lar situation to last year doesn’t mean I’m ap­proach­ing it in any­way the same.”
