(Sturgis) Q August 8-14 Q Sturgis, South Dakota, USA Q www.sturgismotorcyclerally. com, www.eaglerider.com, www.harley-davidson.com/content/ h-d/en_us/home/try-a-bike/rent-abike.html The Black Hills Motorcycle Rally – more commonly known as Sturgis – has been going for 76 years and remains one of the biggest motorcycle rallies in the world. It’s held in the small town of Sturgis, South Dakota which changes from a sleepy small town of just 6000 people to a heaving and sprawling camping and motorhome metropolis for a week.
Sturgis is all about American motorcycles. You might see a few bikes made by foreign manufacturers but about 99% of the tens of thousands of bikes on the road will be made by Harley-davidson, Indian or Victory.
Renting a bike in America is relatively straightforward and doesn’t always cost as much as you might think. There are rental companies like Eagle Rider, HC Travel and others who have shops across the country. It depends how far you want to ride to get to Sturgis but most of the rental fleets with Harleys and Indians book up very early.
