A SOUND INVESTMENT

Owning a Harley-davidson is about personalisation and putting your stamp on your bike. One thing I did fancy changing was the cumbersome exhaust can. For most of their model range Harley make an aftermarket can but they don’t have an option for the Street.

I found that Remus make one (£449, www.performanceparts-ltd. com) that’s shorter, 1.5kg lighter, and has removable baffles. It took a little bit of effort to fit but once in place it’s neater and sounds great.

As Harley never provide power figures I was curious to see what the Street 750 was making. I found the bike made 52bhp with the standard can and initially this dropped when I fitted the Remus. But removing the baffles saw the power increase to 57bhp. I’m not that fussed about the power, but I do like the menacing growl with the Remus can in place although I did need to be a bit careful not to scare the New Forest Ponies with the noise.

Clouds on the horizon, but it’s still a summer of fun for our Alison With a few additions, like luggage and comfort seat, the Street 750 was an ideal touring partner BSD’S Mark Brewin fitted the Remus to Ali’s Harley Street 750
