Owning a Har­ley-david­son is about per­son­al­i­sa­tion and putting your stamp on your bike. One thing I did fancy chang­ing was the cum­ber­some ex­haust can. For most of their model range Har­ley make an af­ter­mar­ket can but they don’t have an op­tion for the Street.

I found that Re­mus make one (£449, www.per­for­man­ceparts-ltd. com) that’s shorter, 1.5kg lighter, and has re­mov­able baf­fles. It took a lit­tle bit of ef­fort to fit but once in place it’s neater and sounds great.

As Har­ley never pro­vide power fig­ures I was cu­ri­ous to see what the Street 750 was mak­ing. I found the bike made 52bhp with the stan­dard can and ini­tially this dropped when I fit­ted the Re­mus. But re­mov­ing the baf­fles saw the power in­crease to 57bhp. I’m not that fussed about the power, but I do like the men­ac­ing growl with the Re­mus can in place although I did need to be a bit care­ful not to scare the New For­est Ponies with the noise.
