I fitted the official Yamaha quickshifter (£199.99), which went on in an hour and is exactly what the MT-10 deserves. Once plugged in it took a while to be recognised by the MT’S ECU and then, on a test ride, the engine warning light came on – and stayed on. The bike went back to Yamaha HQ for investigation (nothing of note was found) and while it was in dock had its clutch plates replaced and the wobbly seat investigated. The clutch is now much smoother but the seat remains loose, despite having the missing rubber stays replaced. 00 1 258
