Time to ban heroic remounts?

Lowes' handlebar drama could have been so much worse

Motorcycle News (UK) - - Comment -

I admit it, one of my favourite things about racing is the way our heroes pluck their machines out of the gravel following a spill and fight to rejoin the action. It's one of the things that elevates bike racing above the 'oh, I've got a sore knee' antics of professional football. So it saddens me to agree with MCN'S Simon Patterson (MCN, August 17) that it might be time for a re-think. Yes Lowes was a legend for getting back on, but what happened next after his handlebar apparently snapped could have caused a tragedy. Even if a bike looks fine, there's no way of telling what damage might have been done. Jason Taylor, email Ed: Is it time for a rule change? Let MCN know your thoughts
