The British Grand Prix has produced some epic races over the 41 years since it made the move from the Isle of Man to the mainland Ð and itõs produced some heroes as well, as sometimes-unexpected riders put on heroic performances (often in the English rain).

But while these battles are often remembered for the men and personalities involved in them, equally important are the machinery that theyõre mounted on.

Over the years, both Silverstone and Donington have seen both triumph and defeat, victory and the gravel trap, for some of the iconic and innovative bikes ever put on a Grand Prix grid.

From homegrown heroes like the rotary Norton to the most cutting-edge tool that the Japanese factoriesõ racing departments can craft, MCN takes a look at the legendary bikes of the British Grand Prix.
