THE BRITS ARE COMING
Cal, Bradley, Scott and Eugene are ready for the biggest weekend of the year and they’re counting on the home crowd’s support to help them achieve Silverstone success
Cal Crutchlow hits Britain with one very clear aim. To repeat his astonishing ride at Brno that saw him take Britain’s first premier class win since Barry Sheene in 1981.
Since Jeremy Mcwilliams came within a second of denying Valentino Rossi a breakthrough first premier class victory at Donington Park in 2000, British fans have witnessed home grown talent win in 125s, Moto3 and Moto2.
But the big prize of a Motogp win, or even a podium, at Silverstone have eluded home riders. But Cal comes to Silverstone full of confidence and if there’s a sniff of a wet race, he’s already shown that he’s capable of winning. Scott Redding, Bradley Smith and Eugene Laverty will all fancy their chances in the damp too.
Crutchlow, Redding and Smith have all finished on a Motogp podium in the last year, while Irishman Laverty has been one of the big revelations of this season, with the highlight being a stunning fourth place in Argentina.
