Honda to unleash mad 750 adventure scooter

Motorcycle News (UK) - - This Week -

When Honda showed the City Adventure concept bike at last year’s EICMA show in Milan few people took it seriously. A cross between a big scooter and an adventure bike, Honda refused to reveal any technical details of the bike, which closer inspection revealed to be based on the 745cc parallel-twin engine and tubular steel frame of the NC750 range.

But in the months since the unveiling it’s become increasingly clear that the concept was actually a lightly disguised pre-production machine, following in the footsteps of other oddball, genre-busting Hondas like the DN-01 and Vultus.

Honda confirmed the bike will be arriving soon with an online teaser video showing glimpses of the production version riding on city streets and dirt roads. It promises more information on August 30, but MCN can bring you the most pertinent details already.

The above images are from Honda’s design patent for the new bike and reveal how the production version will look. Overall it’s very close to the concept but gains a restyled exhaust pipe, screen and hand guards. Unsurprisingly there are also higher spec components fitted, like radial brake calipers.

In February this year Honda applied for the trademarks ‘X-ADV’ and ‘Honda X-ADV’ and both were accepted and granted in June, suggesting this will be the bike’s final name.

Given its NC750 roots, the bike’s performance will be similar to the NC750X, with 54bhp and a weight of around 220kg.
