Yamaha RD400 (1976-80)
The pinnacle of Yamaha’s race-developed (hence the RD tag) air-cooled two-strokes. It was fast (105mph), way torquier than it should have been, and handled better than Suzuki and Kawasaki strokers (which wasn’t hard). Prices are deservedly high, and restoration projects popular.
What you’ll pay now £2000-£4000 But should you? Yes. In some aspects it’s a better bike than the early RD350LC.
