What’s wrong with Honda?

Motorcycle News (UK) - - 2016 Motorgp Silverstone Preview -

The 2016 season has been a hard one for all the riders on the Honda RC213V, from Marc Marquez on the Repsol bike to Tito Rabat on the Marc VDS machine. But why is the bike that was utterly dominant in 2013 and 2014 struggling to show any form in 2016?

The problems all seem to stem from 2015, and the direction in which HRC developed the engine then. Building a more aggressive machine, the factory riders were already asking for a tamer version of the bike for this season.

But what they got instead was a bike every bit as aggressive. And it seems to also be lacking in top-end power and acceleration, which is very un-honda like.

Slow on corner exit and aggressive on corner entry, the new engine means that itõs a struggle to match the opposition Ð and it shows just how talented Marquez is to still take the package to the title lead. And, with engine development now locked down for the season, thereõs nothing that Honda can do to rectify the problem until the end of the year.
