Noisy bikers need to pipe down

Motorcycle News (UK) - - Comment -

Why, oh why, do so many motorcyclists think it’s cool to run loud pipes? As a lifelong motorcyclist and current owner of six bikes, I’m just about as pro motorcycling as you can get, but while sitting outside Jack’s Hill Café near Towcester last Sunday I was ashamed to see, or rather hear, my fellow bikers publicly demonstrating their disregard for other people. I expect my concerns will fall on deaf ears (pun intended) but if I’m offended by noisy bikes, god knows what the antibike lobby make of it. As one who for many years took part in carrying out drive-by noise tests I can tell you that manufacturers really struggle to meet the current 80db limit and that any reduction imposed by government in response to complaints by the public would be a catastrophe.
