Take the pain out of restoration

Motorcycle News (UK) - - Comment -

Here is a quick tip for old farts like me who enjoy restoring old bikes. A couple of years ago I restored a Kawasaki GT550, and nearly gave myself a hernia getting the engine out. I have just finished a Yamaha XJ650. I thought there must be an easier way. My solution? I removed all the engine mounting bolts from the right hand side, laid down some carpet, placed the bike down on the right hand side, then removed the bolts from the other side and lifted the frame off.
