The ex­treme V4

As found in Honda NR750. One of the most tech­no­log­i­cally ad­vanced en­gines ever built, the NR’S V4 had oval pis­tons, twin con­rods and eight valves per cylin­der. A mod­ern folly, but won­der­ful.

The two-stroke

As found in Ev­ery­thing from scoot­ers to GP bikes. Now largely dead due to emis­sions laws, the smoker’s days were both glo­ri­ous and pol­lut­ing.

The Wankel As found in Ro­tary Nor­tons. Was it 588cc, was it far larger? No one re­ally knew, but the Wankel name made many a grown man snig­ger, and the JPS race bikes were a glo­ri­ous sight and sound.
