Relive the Proam series
The infamous Yamaha Pro-am series is reignited once more at this year’s OCTO British Grand Prix on September 1-4 as 24 hopefuls do battle on 250cc LCS.
Former 500cc GP star Niall Mackenzie was last year’s victor in the inaugural comeback event and the Scotsman is looking for a repeat victory in this year’s race.
“Last year’s race didn’t just bring back memories but it was also like the ultimate school reunion,” said Mackenzie.
His fellow podium finishers Charlie Corner and Andy Muggleton return to try and topple Mackenzie as does Mackenzie’s former teammate Donnie Mcleod and Dek Crutchlow, dad of Motogp star Cal. Mackenzie added: “The Pro-am series gave the best young riders a chance they wouldn’t otherwise have had back in the early 1980s and most went on to forge good racing careers so it’s brilliant to see everyone.”
Riders competing this year include: Alan Carter, Curt Langan, Stefan Prein, Mick Crick, Dek Crutchlow, Niall Mackenzie, and Charlie Corner.
