Norton Project Engineer Simon Marshall explains: “In truth there have been continuous improvements to the 961, so we realised that when you add up all those things and the different colours and finishes, it’s effectively a whole new motorcycle compared to where we started. The whole operation has been constantly moving forward, so that was another reason for the MKII – to mark another milestone.” • Engine mods including new Nikasil lined cylinders; die rather than sand cast crankcases; improved crank; uprated gearbox with bevel cut gears, plus new finishes. • New stainless steel exhaust. • Uprated brakes comprising new graphite-finished Brembo Monobloc calipers. • New seat upholstery with ‘ fluted’ panelling. • Cosmetics including a new headlamp, top nut and colours.
