What’s good? While having warm liquid pumped into my ears to make the mould was interesting and a little peculiar it has meant that from day one these earplugs have fitted perfectly. My ear impressions were taken by Richard, from Custom Fit Guards, and he will travel within a set radius around their base in Warwickshire, or the company can take impressions at some bike shows. But if he’s not able to travel to take the impressions it’s possible to use a recommended local audiologist. The earplugs are made from silicone rubber and have a removable filter to protect from high-level noise, including wind noise, but they still allow lowlevel sound to be heard, which means I still have awareness of what’s going on around me.

What’s not? They did take a little bit of getting used to, they almost needed an element of breaking in and if I forget to rub them with petroleum jelly, prior to inserting them, they can be a bit tricky to remove.
