‘ALEX SHOULD BE IN MOTOGP’
“Alex’s performances mean 100% that the Motogp paddock needs to look at where they get their riders from because they always look to Moto2 - they’re age obsessed.
“History has shown that that’s the way they’ve always done it and that that’s the way they’ll continue to. Ben Spies came through the superbike route and did an amazing job and was unlucky to get injured, but he’s been the exception.
“Jonathan Rea should be in this paddock, and if he had been he would have had some incredible results. He did get the chance, and did an amazing job, but he had the wrong passport.
“Alex has shown how fast he is. There have been no secret tests, no few days here or there – he had that 15-lap run at the end of the day in Brno, and that’s it. He’s up against it, but he’s an incredibly talented lad, just like his brother.
“I’d like to think that Tech3 are thinking that they’ve made the wrong decision for next year. I think they have for sure – Alex would have been a better rider than Jonas Folger, no doubt. Johan Zarco is a world champion and has proven his talent, but I’m still struggling to find out exactly what Folger has really done.”
