Knox Studio Rucksack £59.99

Tester Michael Neeves Time used Six months/7000 miles

What’s good? This is easily the nicest quality rucksack I’ve owned and at just 60 quid, it’s one of the best value, too. The main body of the bag is constructed from sturdy 600-denier polyester with a leather base, a fully waterproof 25-litre main compartment with roll-top closure and a handy helmet-carrying strap. It’s been my daily companion for the past six months and I’ve used it for commuting, general travelling, road tests and cross-continental riding trips to the Sachsenring, Nürburgring and Ibiza. It’s easy to use and the main compartment is 100% waterproof. It fastens with buckles rather than zips so there’s never a danger of the bag coming open at high speed when the wind gets to it. There’s plenty of space inside for daily clutter and room to spare for a ‘bachelor’s shop’ on my way home from work. Adjustable shoulder, chest and waist straps ensure a comfy fit, no matter how heavily I’ve packed it and after all these miles it still looks like new.

What’s not? Outer pockets are water-resistant but not waterproof, so I don’t risk putting anything in there I don’t want to get wet. They’re also hard to get into when the rucksack is full. Also, the zip starts on the wrong side, if you’re right-handed and carry the bag on your right shoulder. As is the norm with sack-type bags, there are no internal pockets or dividers in the main compartment.

What’s good? This replaced the rusted-through pipes on my Honda VFR800. The exhaust consists of a full stainless steel system and end pipe – and it’s extremely good value. I struggled to find a pair of downpipes alone elsewhere for this money but this kit includes the downpipes, silencer, gaskets, clamps and exhaust paste. They’re finished well and there is a choice of different silencers (all with a removable baffle). The exhaust note is similar to the standard exhaust with the baffle in but with a slightly deeper tone, though removing the baffle really allows the V4 to sing.

What’s not? It was a little tricky to put on but that was mostly down to the awkward V4 layout of the VFR.

Sachsenring, Nÿrburgring, Aldié this rucksack goes everywhere

Excellent quality and carrying space. 7000 miles and it looks like new.

Outer pockets aren’t waterproof and are hard to access when the rucksack is full. Strap in Sturdy shoulder, chest and waist straps make the rucksack comfy to wear. Back to school Satchel-type chrome buckles give a cool retro look. Main compartment 25-litre space is enough for daily essentials and a light shop on the way home from work. 7000 MILES

FOUR MONTHS
