Rounded bolt is driving me nuts

Motorcycle News (UK) - - Garage -

I removed the front brake calipers on my 2000 Kawasaki ZX-6R and one of the bolts joining the two halves has rounded off inside. How do I sort it? Stan, Nottingham

Answered by Phil Biggs, Bournemouth Kawasaki Drill it out using an 8.5mm drill bit. Drill down until the head drops off – until you reach the body of the caliper, or until it starts to spin. This will allow you to slide the other half of the caliper off the stud. Then you could either use a pair of grips to try and turn the bolt out or you could put the stud in a vice and use a blowtorch on the caliper body to try to turn the caliper half off the stud.

You need to drill out the failed bolts
