BRAD BINDER EASES EVER CLOSER TO MOTO3 CROWN
Brad Binder looks set to get his hands on the 2016 Moto3 crown after a controlling race victory at Misano gave him an incredible 106-point lead over title rival Enea Bastianini.
As always, trying to make a break from the frantic battle behind him, the South African was able to pull clear of the pack mid-way through Sunday’s race, taking Bastianini with him as his other main rival Jorge Navarro crashed out for the third time in four races.
And while the Italian did everything he could to take the win from Binder, the Red Bull KTM racer baulked his every effort. Now needing only an- other win over Bastianini next time out to secure the title, he admitted after the race that the title was now finally in reach.
“This whole year has been so good, and I really enjoyed myself out on track during the race. I tried to push hard but not to do anything stupid, tried to keep a little bit in the bag and that I was doing the same lap time every lap.
“I did everything I could to drop Enea, but when I saw the gap behind had stretched to two seconds to those fighting for third place, on the last lap I made my move and everything worked perfectly.”
