More parking woes

Motorcycle News (UK) - - Comment -

Sunday’s Motogp was fantastic. Drama, spectacle and British interest. Shame the day was ruined by poor organisation. Having queued to get into the car park, we were directed out again and down the road to find the disabled parking. Once parked we were advised of the £30 parking charge which we would have to go the office to pay. No dropped kerb so we had to struggle with the wheelchair. Aidan, email A Silverstone spokesman said: “Following the end of Sunday’s Motogp race the vast majority of our fans chose to leave the venue immediately. This resulted in considerable pressure being put on the gateways and roads exiting the venue as a total of 30,000 vehicles left the circuit and also the local campsites. This caused delays for some fans who were left extremely frustrated and for this we do apologise.

“We will be working with Motogp and Circuit of Wales to ensure that the timetable for the event in 2017 is structured in an attempt to avoid a repeat of these circumstances. We will also be taking a very close look at the traffic management system that is put in place for Motogp.”
