What’s behind my ZX-12 misfire?

Motorcycle News (UK) - - Garage -

My 2002 Kawasaki ZX-12R is suffering from a misfire. There is a sudden decrease/increase in power, as if a plug cuts out then comes back in. It does not sound like fuel starvation and I have changed the plugs. John, Ingoldmells

Answered by Cristian Ingignoli, In Moto A faulty coil is certainly a possibility. I would also check that there is no water or contamination in the tank. Sometimes, a little bit of water built up in the tank over time can get fed through and cause momentary hesitations in the bike. The injectors are unlikely to fail, but just to be sure I would check they are not clogged.

Check your fuel for water contamination
